Wendy Walker has made strides in the Reggae music scene already having had a string of top tens in the 90’s and collaborating with the likes of Lloyd Brown and Spider Johnson who had previously worked with Lee Scratch Perry and Madness. Wendy has previously toured with some of the biggest names in UK Reggae such as Louisa Marks, Mike Anthony and Peter Spence. 2001 brought Wendy the devastating news of cancer and painfully had to move her focus from music into defeating the debilitating disease which after a grueling 2 year constant battle she has now overcome and is finally back in the studio recording and writing, doing what she loves most.
Showcasing once again how her syrupy, seductive vocals can transform a classic Lover’s Rock/Reggae backing into a sensual and provocative sound. Wendy grew up singing. Every chance to sing she took, whether it be the lead in all her school musicals or skipping classes to sing in the toilets. This set the tone for her career, getting spotted singing in clubs and getting signed to ‘Sir George Records’ winning awards such as ‘Best Female Newcomer’ at the ‘British Reggae Awards’ and touring through Europe with the likes of The Wailers and Gregory Isaac plus more, cementing her as a recognised and established Lover’s Rock artist.
Wendy has big plans for 2015, having already made an appearance at the O2 for ‘Queens of Lover’s Rock’, working with Dennis Bovell who recently finished an album with Joss Stone and appearing on ITV’s “Get Your Act Together” earlier in the year. Wendy is clearly very ambitious and has a truly inspirational story to tell.
